Part of the pregnancy journey is the process of documenting thoughts, feelings and new experiences. It is a great way to monitor any complications, watch out for signs of depression or other issues, and have something to look back on when your baby is older. There are plenty of pregnancy journal apps available, which add an easy way to document everything about being pregnant, with free options available including I’m Expecting and Sprout Pregnancy Journal for Android and the iPhone.

What Are Pregnancy Journal Apps?

Pregnancy journal apps allow expectant mothers to document their feelings, their sensations and even the movement of the baby. They differ between developers and it is often worth having multiple journals for different needs.

I’m Expecting offers weekly updates of the baby’s development, and lets you track your feelings and symptoms, which you can also share with other moms who have the app, and compare everything with moms at similar stages. This also makes it easier to share your experience with your doctor to make sure you get the right care, and keep track of all your doctor appointments so ‘pregnancy brain’ doesn’t take over! I’m Expecting syncs with other apps, including My Pregnancy and Baby Bump so you can access all your information anywhere.

Sprout Pregnancy Journal allows you to create a week by week diary of your thoughts and feelings, with as many posts as you want, but you are limited to the amount of characters you can use. It’s almost like Twitter but more personal. You can take videos and photos and document them in the journal as well. If you don’t know where to start, there are ideas for the different trimesters and options for dads to record their feelings, thoughts and apprehensions too.
